Extensive modifications over the past four years include the installation of an AeroGen 4 wind generator, 2 Carmanagh solar panels and a rebuilt Perkins Diesel 4107 with a 130 amp alternator. In addition, Kim Chow has all new standing rigging from the chain plates up. She has her original Proctor aluminum mast with a new boom. Self-steering on board is by Monitor and is attached to tiller steering replacing the original hydraulic wheel steering. Her original teak decks have been removed and replaced with Algrip Grip-Tex. Kim Chow has a Furuno 1625 radar system as well as a Collision Avoidance Radar Deflector (CARD).
Her new suit of UK Halsey sails include:
