Extensive modifications over the past four years include the installation of an AeroGen 4 wind generator, 2 Carmanagh solar panels and a rebuilt Perkins Diesel 4107 with a 130 amp alternator. In addition, Kim Chow has all new standing rigging from the chain plates up. She has her original Proctor aluminum mast with a new boom. Self-steering on board is by Monitor and is attached to tiller steering replacing the original hydraulic wheel steering. Her original teak decks have been removed and replaced with Algrip Grip-Tex. Kim Chow has a Furuno 1625 radar system as well as a Collision Avoidance Radar Deflector (CARD).


Her new suit of UK Halsey sails include:
mainsail with 3 reefs (plus a spare main)
2 yankees
storm headsail

For communication, Kim Chow carries an ICOM 802 single sideband interfaced with a Proctor 3 modem and Toshiba Prestige 500 laptop computer. Email will be sent through SailMail to Glenn's wife Marylou who will post regular updates on this website. See photo gallery for details of the refit.
